GIULIO BIDDAU
Giulio Biddau, born in Cagliari in 1985, began studying piano Cagliari Conservatoire, where he has been recently appointed professor. After graduating, he moved to Paris where he studied with Jean-Marc Luisada, Dominique Merlet and Aldo Ciccolini, brilliantly achieving the Ecole Normale “Alfred Cortot”. Then he joined Sergio Perticaroli’s class in Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome where he obtained the Diploma cum laude both in piano and in chamber music. He moved then to Berlin, finishing his studies at “Hanns Eisler” Hochschule für Musik in Berlin with Prof. Fabio Bidini, and later went on studying piano with Homero Francesch, baroque repertoire with Emilia Fadini and fortepiano with Stefano Fiuzzi.
He is Prize Winner of Casagrande Competition in Terni, “Les Nuits Pianistiques – Lauréats SPEDIDAM” in Aix-en-Provence, “José Iturbi” in Valencia and Tbilisi International Piano Competition.
He has performed worldwide, in important venues as Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, Maggio Musicale in Florence, Salle Cortot in Paris, Konzerthaus in Berlin, the Grand Theatre de Provence in Aix-en-Provence, Palau de la Musica en Valencia, CCK in Buenos Aires, Oriental Art Center in Shanghai and others. He was invited by important Festival as Festival Pablo Casals and Festival Radio France. In 2018 he received a special award from Argentinian Critics Societies.
He played as soloist with many orchestras as: Orchestra dell’Accademia di Santa Cecilia, Orchestre National de Montpellier, Orchestre Les Siècles, Tbilisi Symphony Orchestra, Konzerthaus Orchester Berlin, collaborating with conductors as Lawrence Foster, François-Xavier Roth, Tan Dun, Damian Iorio, Silvia Massarelli…
He made several broadcasting appearances with foreign radio and television such as Japanese NHK, France Musique and Rai Radio 3, ABC Classic Australia.
He has recorded the complete Barcarolles by Gabriel Fauré for the French Label Aparté, works by Respighi for “Evidence”. After his last album, also released by “Aparté” and devoted to Domenico Scarlatti, he started a PhD in musicology with a thesis on Domenico Scarlatti’s reception.
Since then he has given public lecture for Columbia University, Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Graz Kunst Universität and other academic institutions.
