Tamar Zhvania
Pianist, Doctor of Musical Arts, Assistant professor at Vano Sarajishvili Tbilisi State Conservatoire (Chamber Ensemble and Quartet Department, Piano) and teacher at Z. Paliashvili Central Music School for Talented Children. Tamar was awarded Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at Tbilisi State Conservatoire. As DAAD grant holder she studied in Germany at the R. Schumann-Hochschule Düsseldorf. She is the winner of the First Prize and Special Prize of the Mayor of Vienna at the Vienna International Piano Competition (2006). She also was awarded Diploma of Honor at IV Bialystok International Piano Duo Competition in 2008 (together with pianist Nino Jvania). Tamar is a co-director of Tbilisi Conservatoire Contemporary Music Student Ensemble and member of contemporary music ensemble Georgia Modern. She is active as both a pianist and musicologist, participating in international festivals and conferences. Her articles have been published in international periodicals. She is a co-author of the book “Artistic Research Philosophy and Practice” (2022) published within the fundamental research “Development of Artistic Research Methodology on the Example of Exploration of the Piano of the 21st Century and its Future Perspectives”.
