Magdalena Molendowska, soprano, graduated from the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. In 2013, she was the first Polish in the history of the institution to win the GSMD Gold Medal, which she received from the president of the jury, Antonio Pappano. She also graduated with honors from the Stanisław Moniuszko in Gdańsk in the singing class of Dariusz Paradowski. She mastered her skills at the Opera Studio – Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, where she worked, among others under the direction of Renata Scotto. He is currently under the vocal guidance of Yvonne Kenny.
She made her debut on stage with the part of Atalanta in Xerxes by G. F. Handel, in a student performance, which was presented, among others, by at the Bergedorfer Musiktage festival in Germany.
In 2011, she made her debut on the stage of the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera in Warsaw in a production by Jakob Lenz W. Rihm, where she returned in the 2012/2013 artistic season to sing the title role in S. Moniuszko's Halka. She was nominated for the Polityka Passport Award for her participation in this production.
In 2014, she appeared for the first time at the Glyndebourne Festival in the role of Modistin in Der Rosenkavalier, directed by R. Jones, conducted by R. Ticciati, and as Annina in La Traviata, directed by T. Cairns, conducted by Sir M. Elder, to return in 2016. in Don Giovanni, where she toured the Glyndebourne Touring Opera as Donna Elvira. In the 2015/2016 artistic season, she appeared for the first time as Micaëla in Carmen at the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic in Białystok, she made her debut as Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro at the Krakow Opera and as Tosca at the Wrocław Opera, where she previously created the parts of Tatiana in Eugene Onegin and Halka. This season, she also collaborated with the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, where she covered the roles of Małgorzata and Helena in the production of Mephistopheles. Among her performances in the 2017/2018 season, it is worth mentioning her return to the role of Halka at the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera, a concert performance of Gerhilda in Valkyrie at the Poznań Philharmonic, and her debut as a Countess at the Warsaw Chamber Opera. The most important engagements of Magdalena Molendowska last season include her warmly received debut in the role of Katerina in the premiere of B. Martinů's Greek Passion at Opera North, and the soprano part in J. Brahms' German Requiem at the Silesian Philharmonic. In 2021, she made her debut as Fidelio at the Baltic Opera. This artistic season include among others her debut at Opera Australia where she will sing the part of Tosca.
In addition to opera parts, the artist's repertoire includes songs, oratorios and cantatas. At the Barbican Center in London, she presented songs by K. Szymanowski and A. Dvořak. Invited by Malcolm, Martineau she recorded Huit Chansons Polonaises on the album The Complete Songs of Poulenc, Vol. 4. In 2019, together with pianist Julia Samojło, she recorded an album with songs by the outstanding migrant composer Zygmunt Stojowski.
Magdalena Molendowska was a scholarship holder of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Rotary Club and the Worshipful Company of Merchant Taylors and the Margery and Frederick Stephen Wright Eisinger Bursary.
