TARGET GROUP
The programme is intended for graduates of master's degree programmes of music academies in Poland, as well as individuals who have obtained a diploma from higher music education institutions abroad.
PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES
The programme prepares students for independent conducting activities, with a particular focus on the profession of wind orchestra conductor/bandmaster. The curriculum combines conducting technique with practical knowledge of musical instruments and instrumentation, while placing strong emphasis on familiarizing students with the repertoire written for wind orchestras and developing ensemble management skills.
STUDY PLAN
The Postgraduate Programme in Wind Orchestra Conducting at the Academy of Music in Gdańsk is offered on a part-time basis and follows a weekend format (classes are held on Saturdays and Sundays every other week).
The language of instruction is Polish.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Admission to the programme requires passing an entrance examination consisting of:
- an interview,
- a practical component during which candidates are required to conduct one of the following works:
1. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – Eine kleine Nachtmusik, K. 525, Movement I: Allegro
2. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – Overture to The Marriage of Figaro, K. 492
3. Joseph Haydn – Military Symphony No. 100 in G major, Movement I: Adagio; Allegro
4. Stanisław Moniuszko – Fairy Tale (Bajka), Fantasy Overture
5. Gustav Holst – Second Suite in F for Military Band, Movement I: March
Candidates are also required to submit a curriculum vitae and documentation of their artistic achievements to date (e.g., competition awards, participation in festivals, etc.).
ENTRANCE EXAMINATION DATES FOR THE 2026/2027 ACADEMIC YEAR
The exact date of the entrance examination will be announced by 31 May 2026.
REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION TO THE ENTRANCE EXAMINATION
1. Complete the online application form in the candidate registration system by 14 September 2026. The application form is available on the Academy’s website at amuz.gda.pl.
2. Pay the entrance examination fee of PLN 150 by 14 September 2026 (the bank transfer date is decisive) to the University account number generated by the recruitment system. The payment reference should include: the candidate’s full name, faculty, full name of the postgraduate programme, and the note “entrance examination”.
The fee is non-refundable in the event of withdrawal from the examination.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS (TO BE SUBMITTED ON THE DAY OF THE ENTRANCE EXAMINATION)
- A printed and signed application form, together with completed and signed personal data processing declarations generated by the recruitment system.
- A copy of the bachelor’s or master’s degree diploma certified by the Academy of Music in Gdańsk (Faculty Recruitment Committee Offices, Academic Affairs Offices, or Rector’s Office) or by a notary public.
Candidates must present a valid identity document when entering the entrance examination.
AFTER ADMISSION
Candidates admitted to the postgraduate programme must provide proof of tuition payment within the deadline specified in the enrolment agreement.
